Hocking Hills KOA Campground
Everyone loves Hocking Hills, including our family, but finding the perfect campground for you and your family is challenging. This area has many places to camp, we have been on a mission to find the best ones and share them. Our family has wanted to try out the Logan Hocking Hills KOA in the Hocking Hills Region for some time, so we finally made the reservation and went.
Getting There and Check In:
Finding your way through the gorgeous Hocking Hills region can be a bit of an experience due to lack of cell phone service. Fortunately, this KOA has a large sign out by the road where you need to turn into the campground. This is where I MUST tell you about the road leading up to the campground. The turn onto Prattor Rd. can be difficult. PLEASE, make sure you give yourself ample space to maneuver and check for loose gravel before making the turn. Prattor Rd. is rough, bumpy and a little steep but as you crest that last bump you see the beautiful KOA store and gem mine.
Check In:
Check in is very easy here, the staff at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. I had pre-booked using the KOA app and they had the campsite ready for us. Hocking Hills KOA escorts you to your site and shows you right where you will be. I appreciated the escort to the site here, because this KOA is situated on the side of a sloping hill. PLEASE NOTE, the check in policy here, you cannot check in after 9 pm! If you come after that, you can’t get checked in to your site.** There is no late check in here at the this KOA.**
Set Up and Camping Sites
We were given site 17 which is on the far side of the campground. Setting up your rig at the KOA can be a challenge because the gravel sites are not completely level. It took us a minute to get the travel trailer set correctly and by the end of the set up we had used all 20 of our leveling blocks. When coming to this KOA make sure you have plenty of wood or leveling blocks to get your unit level. I took a walk around the campground and looked at the sites here, most will need some kind of leveling. In 2019 camping season they are offering brand new concrete pads and those look amazingly level.
Logan Hocking Hills KOA Amenities
KOA’s are known for their well maintained and well kept campgrounds. This one is no exception. We came here the second week of April and the place was pristine. I was impressed. The store was already well stocked and inviting, bathrooms were beautiful, well decorated (extremely clean), large laundry facility and the property is breathtakingly gorgeous.
Activities here look very nice, although we were unable to use any of them. The pool, snack bar and RC race car track were closed since it was so early in the season. We might possibly have to return here in the summer to let the kids enjoy those things.
Gem mining has always been one of our kids favorite things to do and the one here is situated in a beautiful spot, it’s a must do for the family. The playground, horseshoes and barnyard ball pit were a hit with the family. Our weather on the first night was perfect and they played until the sun went down.

Pets Are Welcome!
KOA Dog Park: They offer a place for your camping pups here at this location, it’s not large but it is big enough for fido to run and play. I thought the play equipment here looked fun!
Deluxe Cabins and Camping Cabins
Do you want a deluxe cabin or a camping cabin? Maybe you don’t know the difference between the two styles. Let me give you the skinny. Logan Hocking Hills KOA offers both styles.
Deluxe Cabins:
These will offer REAL beds! Partially stocked kitchens! FULL bathrooms! Linens! Heating and Cooling systems! Glamping at its finest, if you ask me.
They usually offer:
- 1 Bed-Bunk Bed Set
- 1 Bed-Full Bed
- Linens Provided
- Cable – Over 20 Channel
- Partial Kitchen
- Full Bath with Shower
Camping Cabins:
These cabins offer shelter. Bring your own linens. No kitchens. No bathrooms. Still considered glamping but you get more of the “roughing” it camping feeling. (I love these!)
They usually offer:
- 1 Bed-Bunk Bed Set
- 1 Bed-Full Bed
- Bring Your Own Linens
- Cable – Over 20 Channels
- No Kitchen
- No Bathroom
Logan Hocking Hills KOA offers both of these styles of “Glamping”
We have stayed in both styles and both are amazing. Sometimes we want more creature comforts and sometimes we want to “rough it” more. Pick your style and then book it.
If you are looking for a family friendly, well located campground in the Hocking Hills region, I can recommend this campground to you. It is beautiful and relaxing, the perfect place to unwind after a busy day hiking the trails or visiting High Rock Adventures, in the Hocking Hills region.
