Things to Do at Ash Cave
The Gleason family loves to come to this picnic shelter for a cookout in the fireplace with hot dogs and s’mores before our hike. It is a family favorite, and we do it once a year! If you want to make fun memories as a family, this is something you should try.
Another great feature at Ash Cave is the trees. String up an Eno hammock and take a nap or read a book in the shady picnic area.
The trailhead is easy to find, and the whole path to Ash Cave is paved. The hike is a short 0.5 miles to the cave and waterfall. Key things to note are finding the Ash Cave sign and the information board; these are your visual markers to where the trail begins.
We highly recommend Ash Cave Hiking Trail in Hocking Hills and encourage you to add it to your itinerary. It is a short hike with a beauty that should not be missed. You can hike this area in an hour or less, so don’t miss this one.
We are so thankful that Hocking Hills State Park has made this area so accessible for families and those needing a wheelchair-accessible trail. Gleason Family Adventure applauds them for it!
