Twin Mills Camping Resort was the perfect spot for our family to land for our 5 day camping trip in the Shipshewana area since it was located in the heart of Amish country. We were looking for a place that would offer activities for the kids and that much needed relaxation for mom and dad. Twin Mills offered that and so much more for us during our hosted trip to the area. FULL DISCLOSURE: We were hosted by Visit Shipshewana for our 5 day stay.
How to Get There:
Finding Twin Mills Caping Resort at 1675 W. SR 120 Howe, IN 46746, is easy and arrival parking is ample. We were able to pull our travel trailer and GMC Yukon into the parking area with ease. We arrived after hours so our packet was waiting for us at the late arrival board. Admittedly, it took us a moment to figure out where to head because this campground is HUGE, offering 551 sites.
This is a gated campground so you will need to make sure you have the pass to get into the park. These are card stock cards that swipe for you to enter and exit. While you might find this step time consuming to get in, I found this to be a great addition to the campground because it keeps people who are not staying there out of the camping area.
The roads to the sites are well paved, but some were pretty skinny. Keep your hands on the wheel as you maneuver to your site.
EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR SITE:
Our site was C-51 and is considered a premium site, giving us full hook-up. A full hook-up is water, electric, sewer, and cable if they offer it. C-51 was a decent sized site, with a firmly packed, level pad. We did not need to use very many leveling blocks at this location. C-51 is shaded by beautiful lush pine trees that offer excellent shade on hot camping days.
We were able to spread out at this site and set up our hammocks, zero gravity chairs, and had plenty of space for a warm glowing fire in the evenings. The site is perfect for family fun and smores by the fire.
We all know about the pesky camping friends called mosquitoes, they are plentiful here. I had Repel candles going all the time and wore tons of bug spray. Nevertheless, these guys gave us a run for our money, so prepare accordingly. It’s just part of the camping experience.
Amenities
Twin Mills Camping Resort has something for everyone. The amenities are plentiful and you can enjoy this campground while you are out adventuring in the woods with their numerous trails, swimming or building a sand castle at the beach or biking throughout the park. While you’re at the beach take time to do a little fishing because this campground is a fisherman’s dream with the lake access, boat ramp and dock and even boat rentals for those who don’t own their own water craft. The lake had pan fish galore!
Family Fun For EVERYONE
Our family took advantage of the swimming pool, sunning ourselves and diving for pool toys on one lazy afternoon. The kids went to the camp store and bought some slushies and we relaxed by the water while they kicked their feet at the side. They even made friends with some Amish kids who were camping.
Golf Cart Rentals
I can’t miss sharing about the golf cart rentals! We loved renting a golf cart at Twin Mills Camping Resort. With a campground this big, you need a little help, and renting a golf cart makes getting around so easy. Hopping on the golf cart and running up to the pool for a swim creates lasting memories for you and the family. Another bonus is the kids don’t get your car all wet and stinky when you’re done, you just climb back onto the golf cart and air dry the whole way back to your site.
Other great family-friendly amenities are mini-golf, playground, volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, and on-site game room. Our kids LOVED the playground near our campsite. It had a merry-go-round and they played on that thing till they were sick! It was great to see the bigger kids playing with the younger ones, spinning the merry-go-round as fast as they could.
Other great amenities at Twin Mills Camping Resort is a pristine laundry facility, full-service bathrooms and a well-stocked store for any supplies you might have forgotten.

We really enjoyed our time camping here in the Shipshewana area and made so many memories. Camping here takes you away from the touristy area and gives you that restful place to come back to after a day of sightseeing, for times of campfires, smores and making camping memories.
Happy Camping,
Matt and Brandy and the Gleason crew
