Life has changed the past few weeks and my daughters have pulled out their cooking skills to use from our years of homeschooling and having 8 children to feed. My daughter, Ellie, made homemade Amish bread the other day, check the recipe out here, Homemade Amish Bread. We are using our supplies creatively and trying to make it so we don’t need to go out to the store unless necessary. Today we are having a roast and tomorrow we will have homemade veggie soup made from the left overs. So, if you’re a novice cook, I wanted to share a short how to with you so you can learn how to make a roast and use the leftovers wisely!

Happy cooking!

Ingrediants:

Roast

Potoatoes: As many as you want

Carrots: As many as you want

Celery:For taste 1/4 c.

Onion: 1 Medium size, sliced

Onion Soup Mix: Optional

How to make it:

Step One

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

Step Two

Wash veggies: carrots and pototaotes, you can peel these if you would like. Today, I washed them well and did not peel.

Step Three

Place roast into the dutch oven and place veggies around the roast.

Step Four:

Sprinkle French Onion Soup mix on the top of the roast. If you choose to forgo the mix, sprinkle salt and pepper onto the roast. (I would suggest: 1T of salt and 1/4t. pepper)

Step Five:

Cover and place into the oven or 1 1/2 to 2 hours. If you have a meat thermometer you can check the temperature and see if it has reached 155 degrees.

This roast recipe one of my favorite things to make for our family. It is hearty and provides leftovers for the next days meal.

Here are some leftover meal ideas that we use for the next day.

Beef Vegetable Soup

Beef and Noodles

Beef Manhattans

Beef Barley Soup

Happy Cooking Adventure!
