Visit the Dog Fountain in Mount Vernon
Near the center of Mount Vernon is the kitschy dog fountain, where road trippers can come to see the 18 cast iron dog sculptures, shop Mount Vernon downtown, and enjoy a cup of coffee from The Happy Bean Coffee Shop.
The dog fountain was installed in the fall of 2019 as part of the restorations of downtown historic Mt. Vernon. The fountain is in South Main Plaza and was created to be an outdoor family-friendly community destination. Visitors will find 18 different dog breeds are represented, each one facing the golden bone in the middle. Four dogs are on the outside and can be photographed and touched, the dogs in the fountain can be photographed, and a lone cat for all the cat lovers!

There are benches and picnic tables nearby; you can grab a coffee, get a sub from Dave’s Cosmic Subs, or enjoy an evening picnic with carryout from one of the local restaurants.
Street parking is available and the closest to the dog water fountain, but there is a public parking lot just around the corner.

- Do not climb, walk, stand, or run on any part of the fountain.
