Best Place to Stay at Cedar Point

When you think of Cedar Point, you think of fast-paced family-filled hotels, but what if you want a relaxed Lake Erie stay with a Cedar Point twist or one that is golf centric with plenty of things to do outside of the park? Sawmill Creek Resort is a fully renovated upscale hotel located just minutes from all the Lake Erie fun. You could say this resort is the best place to stay at Cedar Point.

Full Disclosure: I was at a Media Event hosted by Shores and Islands and Sawmill Creek Resort.

Upon arrival, I was immediately drawn into the warm woodsy feel of the nature-centered resort. Check-in was easy, and there was plenty of space for temporary parking for unloading and settling into the hotel.

Parking for rooms is ample, and I drove around to where my building and room was located to unload. Trees name the resort buildings, and guests will want to park closest to the building that their room is in.

Rooms at Sawmill Creek Resort

I was in the Walnut building and had a standard two-queen room. I was pleasantly surprised with how spacious it was! Warm browns of chocolate and cream envelop the room, and I felt immediately at home. If I had known how many different room styles there were prior to coming, I would have begged for a room with a balcony. The standard room has a small refrigerator, microwave, blow dryer, ironing board/iron, and TV—everything you need for a simple stay.

Tip; Be aware I did not mention a coffee maker. I might have died a little when I saw that, but I found the Sawmill Market just a few short steps away from my room. They open at 6:30 am, so the morning was saved.

Things to Do at Sawmill Creek Resort

Believe me when I tell you that this resort is perfect for a place to stay! I have stayed in lots of hotels over the years, and this one was a surprise find in Sandusky. Lake Erie is known for fishing, outdoor adventures, and Cedar Point, so having a resort in this angler’s paradise is a win for the shores of Lake Erie.

While you’re at the resort, make sure to find time to soak in the sun at the outdoor pool area and hot tub. Rent a cabana and make a day of it! Crafted and built with relaxation in mind, the pool area is sublime. Sawmill Creek offers poolside service making this a true day of being pampered.

If you are visiting during the cooler months, there is no need to worry; the indoor pool area is just as magnificent. A large heated pool surrounded by chairs and a huge hot tub welcome you into this indoor pool oasis.

Play for a Day at Cedar Point

A day at Point is a day of excitement and adventure. With over 70 rides and attractions, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Start your day with a ride on Millennium Force, the world’s first giga coaster. Then, experience the thrill of Maverick, one of my personal favorites. If you’re looking for something a little less intense, take a ride on some of the rides in Snoopy Land. And don’t forget to check out the new Forbidden Frontier, a themed area with three new rides, including the Steel Vengeance, the world’s longest and fastest wooden roller coaster.

In between rides, take some time to explore the park’s many shops and restaurants. And be sure to catch a show at the Cedar Point Shores Waterpark. With so much to see and do, a day at Cedar Point will surely be a day you’ll never forget.

Here are some other tips for making the most of your day at Cedar Point:

  • Arrive early. The park gets crowded, so it’s best to get there early to avoid long lines.
  • Purchase a Fast Lane Plus pass. This pass will allow you to skip the line on many of the park’s most popular rides.
  • Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. The weather can be hot and sunny, so protecting yourself from the elements is important.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. You’ll be doing a lot of walking, so wear shoes that won’t give you blisters.
  • Bring a camera. You’ll want to capture all of your memories from your day at Cedar Point.
  • Have fun! Cedar Point is a great place to let loose and have some fun.

My stay at Sawmill Creek Resort was wonderful. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. The resort offers a variety of activities, from golfing to hiking, so there’s something for everyone. I highly recommend this resort for anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable getaway, and it is the best place to stay in Cedar Point!
