Alum Creek State Park Campground

Central Ohio has some excellent places to explore, and finding a base campground for taking on these adventures and activities can be difficult. Campgrounds are hard to check out online, and finding ones with the amenities and the things you want can be hard to find. BUT search no more in the central Ohio area because Alum Creek State Park Campground has everything an outdoor enthusiast is looking for.

Getting to Alum Creek State Park Campground and Check-In

Alum Creek State Park Campground is situated right off ST RT 36 on Lacky Old State road, and it is easy to find. Set the coordinates in your GPS, and it takes you right to the campground!
GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude):
40.23889, -82.98333
40°14’20″N, 82°59’0″W

We found checking in to be very simple and not difficult at Alum Creek. The day we arrived, they actually had people outside greeting you in a pop-up tent outside the camp registration area. They had the site tags ready and paper clipped together with a campground map attached to it. How handy is that?

UPDATE: In the fall, check-in is at the Nature Center as you pull into the State Park Campground entrance.
2021 looks like it will give us a new check-in location, keep on the lookout for that.

Set Up and Campsites at Alum Creek State Park Campground

Getting to and into your site is not difficult here at Alum Creek. Our site was A-22 and located on the main road. With the map, we could easily find it and back in our Sunset Trail 289QB nicely. They don’t have too many trees in the way of your slide outs which makes set up quite easily.

The sites at Alum Creek State Park are extremely nice and large. We were able to get out all our camping gear and outdoor rug with no problems. This site was surrounded by beautiful trees and a thick wall of shrubs, making it secluded, so we did not see anyone else’s campsite. We thought this was a delightful and unexpected bonus. Each site at Alum Creek State Park Campground has a picnic table, fire ring, and a level parking pad.

Alum Creek State Park Amenities

Alum Creek State Park offers a dump station, bathrooms with showers, and flushing toilets, though I will add here that these are not the Ritz Carlton bathrooms. They will get the job done but don’t expect it to be pristinely clean and cobweb-free; it’s a state park and your CAMPING! Bugs and spiders are part of the fun. There are 350 sites at Alum Creek, with 232 providing 20/30/50 electric and 24 sites with full hookups. If you don’t own a camper, they do have 1 camping cabin here. It is very nice and located on a beautiful site on site E5.
