Alum Creek State Park Campground Review

Central Ohio has some excellent places to explore and finding a base campground for taking on these adventures and activities can be difficult. Campgrounds are hard to check out online and finding ones with the amenities and the things you want can be hard to find. BUT search no more in the central Ohio area because Alum Creek State Park has everything an outdoor enthusiast is looking for.

Alum Creek State Park Campground is situated right off of ST RT 36 on Lacky Old State road. It is easy to find and your GPS takes you right to it!

GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude):
40.23889, -82.98333
40°14’20″N, 82°59’0″W
From I-71 (N OF I-270 to ST RT 36-37 EAST): Turn left at top of rampand go about 3 miles W on ST RT 36/37 and turn left on Lacky Old State Rd 10. Follow the signs, and the entrance to the campground is 3 miles on the left. We found checking in to be very simple and not difficult. The day we were arrived they actually had people outside greeting you in a pop up tent outside the camp registration area. The site tags were ready and paper clipped together and they had a campground map attached to it. How handy is that?

Getting to and into your site is not difficult here at Alum Creek. Our site was A-22 and located on the main road. We were able to easily find it and back in our Sunset Trail 289QB in nicely. They don’t have to many trees in the way of your slide outs and we found that to be handy, it made it quite easy to get the camper into the site and set up.

The sites at Alum Creek State Park are extremely nice and large. We were able to get out all our camping gear and outdoor rug with no problems. We were surrounded by beautiful trees and a thick wall of shrubs thus we did not see anyone else’s campsite. This was a delightful and unexpected bonus. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring and a level parking pad.

Alum Creek State Park offers a dump station, bathrooms with showers and flushing toilets, though I will add here, that these are not the Ritz Carlton bathrooms. They will get the job done but don’t expect it to be pristine clean and cobweb free, it’s a state park and your CAMPING! Bugs and spiders are part of the fun. There are 350 sites at Alum Creek, with 232 providing 20/30/50 electric and 24 sites with full hookups. If you don’t own a camper they do have 1 camping cabin here. It is very nice and located in a beautiful site on site E5.

Alum Creek State Park Campground offers a plethora of things to do while you are there. 5 Best Activities To Do At Alum Creek will give you some of the amazing activities you can enjoy while you are camping there. Swimming, basketball courts, boating disk golf and hiking are some of the things, to just name a few! You can check the calendar of events prior to going and see what they are offering while you are there.  Alum Creek State Park does not disappoint!

You can book your sites at Alum Creek State Parks website or call Reserve America. I would suggest using the online option if you can. It is easy and convenient. When staying at State Parks I would suggest you sign up for the Ohio State Park Rewards. You earn 20 points for every dollar spent. Signing up is worth it and you earn free nights pretty quickly! Who doesn’t want free camping?

I would rate this location VERY GOOD! If you are looking for camping in Central Ohio put this campground on the top of your list!

Happy Adventuring,
