Top 3 Things To Do and A Place to Stay in Pensacola, Florida

This winter in Ohio was brutal! We were snowed in, rained on and wind whipped by the end of the season. Our daughter was getting married and due to some unforeseen issues the venue was unavailable for us to use as expected. My son-in-law to be was graduating from Navy A School in Pensacola, Florida and at the last minute we planned a beach wedding!

The wedding was held at Hemingway’s Island Grill and it was AMAZING! The location is lovely and you can sit out on the porch and over look Pensacola Bay as you eat. If you need a venue this is the place to use. Sarah, the event coordinator was fantabulous. The food was delicious and prepared to perfection. Menu  WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU EAT HERE!  If you are looking for a beach preacher, Rev. Bryan Adams, is the man for the job. He took the time needed to get our daughter and son-in-law comfortable with how the wedding would go. @beach.preacher on Instagram.

I took some time to find a great place to stay and went with Wyndham Vacation Rentals on Pensacola Beach. I checked out VRBO , Southern Rentals and all the hotels and Wyndham had them all beat hands down. We chose Regency Towers Unit 701W.. This unit has all you could want for your family vacation. It has a wonderful view of Pensacola Beach and the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. The unit has been completely renovated and is pristine. My only complaint was that the Regency Towers is an older condominium and it really could use a face lift.

Blue Angels! If you are here when they are practicing it is a MUST SEE! The practice show is FREE. Make sure you use sunblock, wear a hat, bring your own chair (you can rent one for $3.00 if you don’t have one) and hydrate! The show lasts about 1 hour.

National Aviation Museum .  Admission to it is free as well! We had a super rainy day and we spent it here. There is so much to see and learn. Our favorite part was the information about the planes they have pulled from Lake Michigan and refurbished! You need at least a half day to really enjoy the visit to this museum.

GULF ISLANDS NATIONAL SEASHORE: We love our National Parks and Seashores. This area is absolutely breathtaking. The sand, wildlife, birding and sights are worth the stops.

Our favorite area was Fort Pickens and we really enjoyed the visit. You will need to make sure you bring your own snacks and water because there are no places to buy anything like that at Fort. I had fun watching the kids explore and ask questions like they did. Abbie was able to finish another Jr. Ranger badge at this stop! This area needs at least 2 hours minimum.

For our hiking friends look up the Florida Trail.. We hiked on it for a bit but we did not have time for full on hiking for this trip. Perhaps another time?!?

I’ve been a lot of places but this has become a place I will put up top on the list. You could come here and adventure for weeks! The hiking, swimming, parasailing and whatever other adventure you want to get into is waiting for you here in Pensacola Beach, Florida!
